The relationship between Piceni and Romans alternated phases of cooperation with fierce clashes.   From the most famous of these latter ones, the Social War, which was fought between 91 and 89 BC, the account of the romanisation of the Ascoli territory starts.  It progressed from the republican period, still little known, and the imperial period, which is rich in evidence about daily life and monuments.   The continuous dialogue between the finds at the museum and the architectural structures still visible in the city offers a privileged occasion to know about the Roman period.
